The Story So Far...
...The Dixon Group is a world leading supplier of hose and coupling products. It prides itself on its reputation for quality and innovation.
It all started over 100 years ago when in 1887 Howard W. Goodall left school to work in a rubber distribution company in Philadelphia, USA. It was here that he developed a great interest in the design of hose couplings and clamps. This interest, combined with his desire to take advantage of the growth in the USA economy led to the formation of the Goodall Rubber Company.
Due to his ongoing interest and innovative approach to coupling design, he started the Dixon Valve and Coupling Company which produced products for the mining, oil and construction industries.
Howard W. Goodall will be most remembered for his original ‘BOSS’ coupling and ‘ROTARY HOSE COUPLING’, both patented in 1917.
In 1924 he sold his interest in the Goodall Rubber Company and concentrated his energies in the growth of the Dixon Valve and Coupling Company.
After the second world War the company continued to grow significantly by focusing upon product innovation and the customers needs, by pioneering a new non-metallic hose fitting for agriculture, food and medical applications.
In 1976, the Dixon Group moved its headquarters and the largest USA manufacturing base to Chestertown Maryland, where it remains today.
Through acquisition the Dixon Group has been able to consolidate its position as a market leader by adding a significant number of product lines, giving a wider choice to its customers.
Today the Group offers one of the broadest range of products available in the industry, all backed by an extensive global network of distribution centres. It has followed the same high standards set by its remarkable founder H.W. Goodall back in 1887 when the story started.
Today his grandson, Mr. R.L. Goodall leads the Group as Dixons President and Chief Operating Officer. He continues the commitment to product innovation and customer service.
